Co-op Housing
All co-operatives are corporations owned by shareholders who
are called members. The members of the co-operative manage
it through committees, staff and a board of directors. In
a housing co-op, the residents in apartments own a share in
the co-operative. These residents are called resident
members. Owning the share entitles the resident members
to oversee the management and operations of their homes. In
order for the co-operative to function, it is necessary for
member residents to participate within the co-op. Resident
members elect and serve on the co-op board of directors and
receive training and support from the Co-op Housing Program
of BCLT in the management and governance of their communities.
BCLT is dedicated to providing affordable, fair, and equal
opportunity housing. All BCLT co-ops are as affordable
as our rentals. The Co-op Housing Program of BCLT offers
Equal Opportunity Housing.
